Tandem’s Home Page

Tandem provides one-to-one befriending outside of the home to people in the immediate Oxford area who have been through a period of mental ill-health and are looking to rebuild their lives. We are currently supporting up to 20 befriending partnerships on a weekly basis. We regret that, at present we can only accept referrals of people living in, or very close to, Oxford.

Training for volunteers: We are now looking to train up volunteers in mental health awareness and befriending skills. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer befriender with Tandem please get in touch at: http://enquiries.tandembefriending@gmail.com

Wolf Tamer – a play about mental health

Tandem is pleased to support the publicity for this new play about loss and mental health

Rachel has just lost her hero. Her uncle Neil has died unexpectedly. In the wake of his death she becomes reclusive, struggling to leave the house. To make sense of her loss she travels back in time and revisits the incredible stories Neil told her as a child, about his adventures around the world.

This autobiographical solo show is an honest, often humorous exploration of grief, love and the power of storytelling.

This event is part of Offbeat, a festival of new performance at the Old Fire Station and Oxford Playhouse. For full listings, see www.offbeatoxford.co.uk

Referrals: Please contact  us at enquiries.tandembefriending@gmail.com if you would like to discuss referrals to the service of people living in, or very close to, Oxford. We are now recruiting volunteers in order to set up new partnerships. See our About Tandem page to see what partnerships can do for people.

If you are interested in helping Tandem to continue its valued work, by offering us some time, or supporting us by giving a donation, we hope you will find the information you need on this website.

Tandem Social Group

In addition to our individual partnerships, some of our befriendees and befrienders participate in a weekly social group that goes to various places of interest in the local area.

Here is an example on what the group did in one month.
