Tandem provides one-to-one befriending outside of the home to people in the immediate Oxford area who have been through a period of mental ill-health and are looking to rebuild their lives. We also run a weekly social group that has outings to local places of interest. We regret that, at present we can only accept referrals of people living in, or very close to, Oxford. At present we have a number of people on our waiting list so are unlikely to be able to offer an immediate start for new referrals.
Training for volunteers: We are now looking to train up volunteers in mental health awareness and befriending skills. The next training day will be on September 15th 2018. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer befriender with Tandem please get in touch at: http://email@example.com
Tandem’s AGM Thursday 18th October at 7:00 pm
We will be meeting at Restore, Manzil Way, Oxford OX4 1YH.
The Guest Speaker is Christopher Gowers FRSA from Oxfordshire Neighbourhoods Partnership on Loneliness, Social Isolation and local Good Neighbour Schemes.
Elder Stubbs Festival
We had a good time at this year’s Elder Stubbs Festival on Saturday 18th August 2018. Thanks to all those who offered to become Tandem volunteers and thanks to Restore for organising the event.
Cowley Road Carnival
It was good to be part of this year’s carnival event
Referrals: Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to discuss referrals to the service of people living in, or very close to, Oxford. See our About Tandem page to see what partnerships can do for people.
If you are interested in helping Tandem to continue its valued work, by offering us some time, or supporting us by giving a donation, we hope you will find the information you need on this website.
Tandem Social Group
In addition to our individual partnerships, some of our befriendees and befrienders participate in a weekly social group that goes to various places of interest in the local area.
Here is an example on what the group did in one month.
